Hello Readers, Meet Angad Singh Saluja, Author of the book “CHORDS OF LIFE” who talked to us recently and also spoke about his recent interaction with farhan Akhtar.
Hi Angad, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Hello…It is my pleasure to be interviewed by MerryBrains and I am thankful to you for the same. I did my MBA in Finance from IBS after I completed by B.COM(Honors) from Delhi University in 2008.Soon I joined ING Bank as a wealth manager only to realize that doing a job under someone was not my cup of tea. Now, I am settled in New Delhi where I run my retail business of consumer electronic stores and wine and liquor stores. I know the latter might sound you more interesting but knowing the stringent excise rules might take a toll on you. So, that is all the rational and professional side of me.
What were you like at school?
Naughty and Talkative though always good in studies….
Were you good at English?
I still remember some lines once my English teacher said when I was in 7th class. He said to my mother, “If he is good in English and tends to get good grades, it does not mean that he can misbehave in the class.”
What are your ambitions for your writing career?
I want to keep writing throughout so that my words keep on changing lives and it ensures the world is a much better place to live in for everyone around. If I don’t achieve the latter, I don’t want to take my writing career forward. People should relate to my writing and go in some thinking mode for introspecting themselves after reading my words. That is all what I want.
So, what have you written?
Poetry and short stories till now. I have my own published book titled “CHORDS OF LIFE” which has got a phenomenal response and reviews across the world since it was launched. Now it is in its second edition and trust me the youngsters which were never into reading, they are also in love with it. This book is not some vague poetry which will go above your head but some real life stories written in the form of poems which make readers relate to every word of it. Apart from that, I have many poems published in various national and international anthologies.
What are you working on at the minute?
I am almost done with my second book of poetry and also I am working on my first fiction novel which would be out by next year only.
When did you decide to become a writer?
I so thought you would not ask this.(LOL).Sometimes we in life act as a gas vessel in which tremendous amount of pressure in form of gas is being supplied. Now managing the same with a proper vent is very important or the vessel might end up bursting. The life we all are blessed with is just like that very gas vessel, the situations like the pressure and writing for me was the very important vent. I never used to write until the last two years where suddenly I needed to vent out my frustration, thoughts and emotions and that is when I just took the aid of a pen. From that point there has been no turning back and trust me that pen has not disappointed me at all which people in one’s life always do.
What book/s are you reading at present?
“Zealot” by Reza Aslan. It is a very interesting book talking about Jesus of Nazareth vs Jesus The Christ.
How do you relax?
I love to sleep.Thats the best stress buster for me. Apart from that I love swimming and listening to EDM and PSY which again makes me forget all the stress. The most important thing I have based my life on now is MEDITATION. Once I am in that mode, I just cannot stop thanking the creator for my existence and all the worries seem so small which then I readily accept and then sort it out one by one.
What is your favourite positive saying?
A person only lives once but if you live right, once is enough.
What is your favourite film and why?
Pirates of Caribbean series and that is because of Johnny Depp. Need I say more.
Where can you see yourself in 5 years time?
Perhaps giving another interview to MerryBains with my fifth book hitting the market but only if you would be interested
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Do something in life which makes you happy and relaxed. Money is food for the stomach but you need to earn the food for the soul too. Meditate from an early age and you will know what career option you have to take which solves both your purposes in life.
Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
Amongst the dead,I have always had a fascination towards Hitler. I don’t know why but yes I would have loved to meet him and seen him rule and make some tough strategies.
Last but not the least; tell us about your recent interaction with THE FARHAAN AKHTAR. Also tell us about this initiative by Omron India in which you participated.
This initiative by Omron India is one of its kind which has been started for the blind people across the nation. The same focuses on lending voice to your words so that those people also can get motivated and inspired by hearing your poems and recitation. If we just think about this, it would really make you feel that we should have done this pretty earlier but salute to the efforts of the whole team which have started to build a terrific database of these recordings and now they plan it to circulate around all the blind schools and institutes.
Coming to Farhaan Akhtar now, he is the brand ambassador of Omron and that is how after winning the contest I got a chance to meet and interact with him. Initially I was of the idea that once I would meet him, the conversation would last only for 5 minutes and that would be the end of the so called meeting. But I was proven totally wrong. There I was for close to 2-3 hours sitting with the man where I recited a poem or two from my book “Chords of Life” which I even presented to him and he gracefully accepted it. It was really very humble of him to make all the winners feel really comfortable. There we had a discussion with him regarding writing, poetry and various other things. I also did interview him for Zoom Channel with some questions I had in mind along with shaking my leg on his super hit song “Havan Karenge” from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. He is simply awesome with a great sense of humor.
