The author of this novel F.Scott Fitzgerald is an American author of novels and short stories. He is regarded as one of the greatest writers during the beginning 20th century and also considered as a member of the “Lost Generation” of the 1920’s. His book “The love of the last tycoon” is considered as a masterpiece. The following book “The Great Gatsby” is also one of his finest work . This book has been basis for several films made of the same name. This is a fictional classic novel. Fitzgerald has clear understanding about the society which he brilliantly depicts the high profile society of America during the Jazz Age. The use of language in the story is very appealing. The narrator the story is a young Yale graduate Nick Carraway who spends his summer in a rented house next to large mansion of Gatsby. The story revolves around Nick ‘s beautiful cousin daisy her husband Tom and her ex lover Jay Gatsby who is known for his lavish parties attended by the rich folks, beautiful ladies and his mysterious past which people keep talking behind him. Nick gets trapped in this complex triangle love story.
Though the story is perfectly construed but Fitzgerald has used many characters which are shallow, irrelevant. The story moves slow till the end. The story has some tense moments but the excitement last for a short while. All the characters in the story are self centered except the narrator who is victimized and witness for all the things happening in the story but what keeps you stick to the book is Gatsby’s humor and vibrant character.
This story is themed with love, money and of desperation.
