“Freak!”
The word has been synonymous with Maddy throughout her grim childhood, most of which she spends trying to hide her secret from the prying eyes of her ‘family’. However, one fateful day, the circumstances force her to escape. With freedom, she explores and acknowledges her extra-ordinariness, her freaky self.
What she doesn’t know is that when she crosses paths with her past, it will make her question the whole purpose of her existence. Has fate orchestrated it? Or is it something more sinister?

A yet-to-be fulfilled dream
Hans has been working on his inconceivable dream for decades. He has chosen this dream over his life, his love and even his conscience. Yet he hasn’t inched any closer to achieving it. He is desperate as years of hard work; research and many lives are at stake. Is Maddy the person who can make this lifelong ambition a success?
Will this last gamble pay off, or is the success for which he has staked everything in his life, not in his destiny?

Review

The tale is told in two spans of time, Where Hans, researching on wonder pills to deliver an infant who becomes a freak. The trauma of a freak so hefty that will make you re-think how people are. Are they freak? Or do we have the eyes to rethink? Think again?

The book has a continual rhythm and radiantly told. The examinations performed to govern the human brain was well researched reinforcing science to the flavour of this genre and that melts beautifully. Some of these endeavours are atrocious, bizarre, and creepy. Hans Calloway does it to his child for the so-called greater good. Maddy goes through the distress of freak adolescence and the tale indulges in how these tests affect a child.

Mamta is a stunning storyteller- for the fact that she composed this so skillfully.
It’s not an effortless genre to flirt with- it asks something from the author.  This book is easily a one sitter read.

The most likeable thing in this book is the pace- a steady pace in the outset and then gets into twists and twirls to make this one of the delicious reads.

A must-read with a ruling that will leave readers yearning for more.
